Written by on 25th October 2022

On November 5, Waves Festival will be making a comeback to Sunderland. As well as being hosted at Sunderland’s brand new and cutting-edge venue, The Fire Station, it is running in collaboration with five other local venues, The Peacock, Independent, The Ship Isis, The Bunker, and Live Lounge.

The Fire Station will be headlined by Pale White, who have recently released their brand new critically acclaimed album, Infinite Pleasure. Following a sell out gig back in April 2022 as part of the tour for their second album ‘Welcome Break’, Dutch indie band Pip Blom will be headlining at Independent. The Leeds based electronic and funk band, Galaxians, who have an ever-growing reputation will be headlining at The Peacock and have performed at other festivals such as Bluedot and Tramlines.

The Waves Festival line-up will also include Sunderland local Tom A. Smith, who is steadily rising in popularity and has performed at Glastonbury and supported Elton John. York band Bull will be bringing their chaotic indie vibes to Sunderland for the first time. Additionally, there will be dance/pop performances from Vandebilt, punk from Declan Welsh & The Decadent West, psychedelic indie from The Dream Machine, as well as performances from Luke Royalty, Hive Mind, Yaatri, Wax Heart Sodality, Ghost//Signals, Dead Wet Things, Chloe Gardner and The Neolectrics.

Excitingly, The BBC Introducing stage which has been created by Nick Roberts of BBC Newcastle will feature The Peevie Wonders, Nadedja, Noprism and Eve Cole. The Young Musicians Project Presents stage has been curated by the young people of the project and it will feature The Lake Poets, Pave The Jungle and Sisi.

Tickets are available for purchase here and can also be purchased in person from Hot Rats Records (19 Waterloo Place, Sunderland. SR1 3HT). There will be a family friendly activity at Pop Recs (172-175 High Street West, Sunderland. SR1 1UP) at 10am and the activity will have free entry.

Once you have your ticket, it will be exchanged for a wristband on the day of the festival at The Fire Station box office. This wristband will allow you entry for all six Waves Festival venues!
