Easter Holidays 2025: Where to go in the North East with the kids

Written by on 3rd April 2025

With the Easter holidays around the corner, here are some great family-friendly activities to enjoy across the North East. From exciting events to accessible venues, there’s something for everyone to explore.

The Baltic in Gateshead is hosting two art workshops. Paint! with Sue Loughlin is happening on  17th April, which is aimed for children aged 5-12 to teach them different painting techniques using different tools and materials.  Sculpt! with Zoe Allen is happening on 24th April which is also aimed at 5-12 year olds where they can make a ‘personal monument’ that tells the world about them.

The Discovery museum has a Lego Brick Show on the 26th-27th April, where children can go and see some of the new Lego models and displays, and also take part in a range of fun STEM and speed build activities.

If you’re a Newcastle fan the Hancock Museum is running a Toon Underground Parade exhibition as part of the Moving Parts Puppetry Festival. There will be a lot of giant puppets with masks, representing the exciting event that happened in the previous month. It will be there from the 21st April to the 27th April.

Beamish Museum are hosting several Easter events. Rebecca Walker, Events Assistant at Beamish, said: “The Easter holidays are a fantastic way for us to kick off the main season at Beamish. We have two free trails taking place across the two weeks, from 12th to 27th April, taking place both across the museum and in our 1900s Town.

“We then have a range of activities happening over the Easter Weekend, with family games and crafts, including egg rolling and jarping, and, of course, lots of tasty treats to try! With free entry to the museum for Unlimited Pass holders and Friends of Beamish members, Beamish is a perfect place to visit during the Easter holidays.”
