Sunderland City Council announce beach restrictions for pet owners

Dog walkers could be fined up to £100 as summer beach restrictions are set.
Local dog walkers and businesses are upset by the measures as they face a disruption of their routines and a decline in customers during the week.
The council have asked dog walkers to check for signs before letting their pets onto the beach to avoid any fines after 138 dog fouling fines were reported last year.
The pet-free zones will run from the first of May until the 30th of September.
