Internet disruptions at the University of Sunderland could be the result of a cyber attack.
Telephone lines, website access and on-campus internet are down across the university.
On-campus learning and face-to-face sessions will continue for students, but online learning is currently unavailable.
A statement from the university said: “We take the security of our systems extremely seriously and we will resolve this as quickly as we can.”
“We intend to continue face to face teaching as far as possible and will continue to update our staff and students, as well as continue working with the police.”
The statement from the university added that, while most communications are down, students could contact universitysunderland.enquiries@gmail.com for help with any enquiries.
