Number of new online ads for physiotherapists in the North East fall after peak in 2022-2023

The number of new online ads for physiotherapists in the North East has been falling back down after previous increases, according to data from the ONS.
In 2024 and 2025, almost every month had a lower number of new online job ads for physiotherapists in the North East than the months in 2022 and 2023.
The data, which comes from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), uses web-scraping to measure the number of new adverts that have went live online every month.
Adding up the monthly data reveals that in 2022, the number of new online job ads in the region for physiotherapists totalled 996, with an average of 83 ads per month.
In 2023, the number totalled 912, with an average of 76 ads per month. Although this number is slightly lower than 2022, it is still much higher than the years prior to 2021. In fact, the year 2023 had the month with the highest number of ads in the North East for physiotherapists: 122 ads in February.
However, 2024 showed a decrease of 32.5%, with the number of new ads across the year adding up to 616 and an average of 51 ads a month.
In 2024, the month with the most ads was April, with 69 ads, whilst in 2025 it was February/June with 62.
In fact, since November 2023, the number of online ads for physiotherapists in the North East have been lower than 70 each month. Comparatively, the year of 2022 had no months with less than 70 ads.
According to the data, the number of ads found in 2025 has returned to a similar level as in 2020. In 2020, there was an average of 45 (.58) ads per month, and in 2025 there was an average of 45 (.75).
The number of online ads for physiotherapists in the North East had shown a large increase in 2021.There were a total of 799 new online ads across 2021, a 46.1% increase in comparison to 547 in 2020.
There was then an increase again in 2023.

In 2017, the number of ads totalled 530. In 2018, the number was 461 and in 2019 it was 469.
The regional figures could be part of a wider national trend. Across the whole of the UK, the period between May-November of 2022 had figures in the 3000s every month.
In comparison, the number of ads for physiotherapists per month in the UK reached over 2000 in only 3 months of 2024. The rest of the months had less than 2000 ads.
The 2026 data shows 36 ads in January 2026 and 33 in February.
