Why Spotify Wrapped 2025 May Be Closer Than You Think

Written by on 27th November 2025

As this year nears the end, music fans across the world turn to their Spotify as they await their yearly listening recap – and 2025’s update may be sooner than you think.

First launching in 2016, Spotify Wrapped has been the annual recap on users’ listening trends. The slideshow covers everything a music lover would want to know – from their most streamed artists, songs and genres to their total listening hours and even their favourite podcasts. The artists themselves even get involved, with Taylor Swift and Charli xcx among those who recorded special ‘Thank You’ messages for fans last year.

The stats also combine global data to reveal the biggest songs, artists and genres in the world. Last year, Taylor Swift topped the Global Artists list with 26.6 billion global streams, followed by The Weeknd and Latin rapper Bad Bunny. As for last year’s biggest songs, Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ earned a top spot, followed by ‘Beautiful Things’ by Benson Boone and ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’ by Billie Eilish.

However, the question of when this year’s edition of Wrapped is coming still remains. Given that Spotify themselves don’t officially announce a date and leave it as a surprise drop, we can only speculate based on previous years. Last year’s finally dropping on December 4, while 2023’s released on November 29 and 2022’s was November 30. Clearly, we can see Spotify likes to wait for the American Thanksgiving to wrap up (pun intended) – which falls on November 27. Based on this data – we could be seeing Spotify Wrapped 2025 within the next week.

Similarly, Apple Music’s answer to a yearly recap is also close by. In 2022, Apple announced ‘Apple Music Replay’ as their answer to a yearly listening debrief. Last year, the replay dropped on December 3rd, providing users of that app with their own personalised music roundup a day before Spotify Users.

So, music lovers can now rest easy – as their yearly Spotify and Apple Music recaps, as well as the following Instagram scroll through their friend’s stats, is just around the corner.
