Newcastle Hardcore Gig Was A Sold-Out Success

North East Hardcore promoter Conviction Records hosted their annual sold-out all-day concert at Anarchy Brew last Saturday.

Conviction Records, a small one-man promotion company commonly known as ‘the home of North East Hardcore’, boasted a lineup of 12 bands, both local and international. The lineup featured newer local bands such as Silence|me and I Miss You Already, as well as the fan favourite Long Goodbye from Newcastle. Despite the treacherous rain, the alternative venue and brewery Anarchy Brew opened its doors to over 300 attendees who crowded to see international headliners including Cross of Disbelief, Fatal Realm and metallic hardcore giants Age of Apocalypse.

The concert also featured Pieces of Eden, a local band from Newcastle. Joseph Whatcott, the vocalist of Pieces Of Eden, said: “I felt like it went really well, and it was probably one of the best shows we ever played. The crowd was electric the entire time, even when we were talking about how appreciative we are for everyone liking our music and the scene just being so amazing.”

Connor Neish-Stone,  the man behind the all-day event, highlighted just how well received the gig was. He said: “I think the event was generally a great success all around; each aspect of it seemed to go well, from the admin stuff, sorting riders out etc that was all easier than the last all day event I did. I think overall the vibes were immaculate for the show and I didn’t hear a single complaint from anybody.”

20-year-old Connell Donoghue, from Sunderland, even managed to do a guest performance during one of the sets and was intensely encouraged by the concert attendees. He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed every bit about the gig. A shoutout to Pieces of Eden for letting me do guest vocals during their set and to Conviction Records for putting on another class gig. I eagerly await the next one.”
