Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt visited the University of Sunderland campus to promote the new funding the city received.
Mr Sunak even recorded a special jingle for the University student radio station Spark.
A multi-million-pound state-of-the-art Television and Film studio has been given the funding it needs to be built. It is thought that the studio will create over 8,000 jobs for the region and act as a big money generator for Sunderland like the Nissan factory which also recently received further backing from the PM.
Sunderland City Councillor John Price admitted his excitement for the new studio and the revenue it could bring to the area.
