Shotton Comrades before Coronavirus Pandemic

Since the lockdown struck in March 2020, perhaps no industry has been hit as hard as the hospitality industry throughout the North East.

Before the pandemic, 7.1% of total UK employment was in the hospitality industry while in the two years following the lockdown around £115 billion in expected sales was lost. Local businesses like hotels, restaurants and pubs were worst affected by this.

To gain a better understanding of the short and long term effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, Spark interviewed Stephen Parkin, who is the manager of Shotton Comrades Club in County Durham.
