PREVIEW: Maguire and Pierce to go head-to-head in Sunderland

Written by on 10th November 2022

Journalists Kevin Maguire and Andrew Pierce will go head-to-head in a political debate.

Sunderland students and residents will make up the audience at the Hope Street Xchange on November 14, 2022.

University of Sunderland lecturer Neil Macfarlane will chair the event as the two guests field questions for an hour.

Neil Macfarlane said: “There’s no shortage of talking points at the moment. Expect to hear them debating everything from Partygate, the cost-of-living crisis and the state of the economy, to the prospects of the two big parties at the next general election, and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”

Kevin Maguire, Daily Mirror journalist and Andrew Pierce, Daily Mail Journalist, chat in Westminster, London, UK

Six years ago they came for a similar event in Sunderland. Issues such as Brexit, the Panama Papers and the future of British politics were the topics that held prominence. The full video of their debate is available here on the University of Sunderland Facebook page.

The venue has room for around 100. A small number of tickets are still available from the following link here. The event is expected to sell out quickly.
