Seaham Town Council have awarded £2,000 to TFT MMA as a good will gesture, recognising the work and contribution to the community.
TFT MMA are a well-known gym in the North East area, providing some of the best talent that the area has produced in the last ten years. Run by UK MMA veteran Andrew Fisher and Katrina Fisher.
The Seaham gym have produced world class fighters from their small town with the likes of Mick Parkin, UFC heavyweight, current KSW champion Phil De Fries, and current Cage Warriors champion Justin Burlinson. It is no secret that TFT provide elite level talent with the backing of head coach Andrew Fisher.
Katrina Fisher said: “We were honestly overwhelmed and incredibly grateful. After years of trying to grow and improve our facilities, it means so much to feel recognised and supported by Seaham Town Council. It is not just financial help — it is a vote of confidence in what we are doing for the community, and that means everything to us as a family-run gym.”
TFT have supported the local community drastically in recent times and are pushing the young community of Seaham with classes. TFT host classes throughout the week for ages 4-16.

Fisher added: “For young people, it shows that there are positive, affordable spaces in Seaham where they can grow, challenge themselves, and be supported — and that their town believes in them.”
Mayor of Seaham Town Council, Margaret Levitt said: “The Council has provided over 60 thousand pounds to local good causes since the new Councillors took up their positions in May. TFT MMA was one of these worthy causes especially with the work they do with engaging with local children. TFT MMA help them grow in confidence, physical ability and teach them the value of hard-work and perseverance. Giving them a safe place where they belong!”
The money received from the council will help boost the local MMA gym moving forward, with the donation spent wisely on the facilities and getting a brand-new cage: “The £2,000 will go directly towards purchasing a new MMA cage, which is a major piece of equipment and a huge investment for us. This will benefit everyone who trains with us, from children just starting out to athletes competing at a high level.” said by Katrina Fisher.
