Rumours linking Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to the vacant England national team role have finally been squashed.

Since the resignation of former manager Gareth Southgate in the aftermath of England’s Euro 2024 final defeat, the rumour mill has been in full swing.

As interim manager Lee Carsley failed to really win the Three Lions faithful over, Newcastle fans were anxious at the prospect of the national team making a swoop for the Ex-Bournemouth gaffer.

Rumours of unrest on Howe’s part and informal approaches by the FA had a lot of people on Tyneside sweating over Howe’s future. However, fans have now taken to social media to express their relied as ex-Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s appointment has brought an end to this speculation.

The German born manager, who famously led Chelsea to Champions League success in 2021, is set to become only the third non-British to take the role on a full time basis. Tuchel follows in the footsteps of ex-gaffers Fabio Capello and the late Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Tuchel had previously been linked with Newcastle’s league rivals Manchester United, as their boss Erik Ten Haag as come under increased scrutiny.
Tuchel, however, had already ruled out the move to Old Trafford which could have been his second stint in the Premier League.
