Metro Disruptions Set To Cause Half Term Chaos

Commuters between Newcastle and Sunderland are set for major disruptions this Halloween half-term, as the metro is set for renewal works.
Between October 28th and November 1st, trains will not be running from Gateshead Stadium to either South Hylton or South Shields. Instead, replacement bus services will be running from Gateshead interchange. The 900 will run to South Shields and the 901 will run to South Hylton.
This will mean disruptions to commuters to and from Sunderland, as trains will not be running to Sunderland, St Peter’s, Stadium of Light, or many of the other popular stops on the South Hylton line. Commuters will be able to avail of an express bus service though, as the X901 will service all of the aforementioned areas.
The disruption comes as a result of planned renewal works at Pelaw station. This an intersection which sees 400 trains pass through it each day, so these line works which coincide with school holidays are sure to cause major disruptions for parents.
Normal metro services will resume on Saturday, November 2nd.
