Coronation party map shows North-South divide in Royal excitement

THE North seems far less excited about today’s coronation of King Charles III than the South, according to the number of official street parties planned in our region.

The North-South Royal divide is illustrated by the Eden Project Communities’ ‘Big Lunch Map’, which shows there are significantly fewer street parties and lunches taking place in the North East during the coronation and bank holiday weekend than in more southern areas.

Nevertheless, there are official celebrations going on, including one in Sunderland city centre.
