Mixed Reactions from fans following Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release

The new Modern Warfare 2 has caused mixed reactions from fans with its controversial release.

According to App Trigger, Despite the number of criticisms, Modern Warfare 2 has become the fastest selling Call of Duty, earning over $1 billion in sales in the first 10 days of its release.

One of the biggest criticisms from fans is skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). Skill based matchmaking is when you are placed in lobbies with players of similar skill.

Esports player and content creator FaZe Mongraal said: “this is the most noob cod ever head glitches every map MAX SBMM insane aim assist elephant footsteps so ppl can camp and hear u coming from so far biggest maps ever and horrible spawns.”

Content creator Syndicate said “I feel there is just SO much stuff missing when it comes to what we’ve had from previous years! And I’m talking BASIC stuff! Barracks, Challenges etc! Feels so empty!”

Just before the release there was a beta that players could participate in.

Call of Duty news account ModernWarzone said “You know SBMM is bad when people are reverse boosting in the beta”.

Reverse boosting is where players purposely perform poorly to face easier opponents.

On the contrary, a lot of players are still enjoying the game.

Twitter user Protosszea said “Everyone complains about #MW2 SBMM etc, But got to say this is probably one of the most enjoyable cods I’ve played in a while.”

Content creator NoahJ456 said: “Modern Warfare 2 is feeling pretty good from the multiplayer side ngl”

Esports organisation CEO Landon said: “If you’re bored of Modern Warfare 2 already, that’s your problem not the game. Far more to do in these new games than there was in the old. You might just not have the same love for gaming anymore, a hard thing to admit especially as a creator. I do get the SBMM argument though.”
