There may be no more live music at a popular North East pub after three complaints were made to the local council.
Popular bar Platform 2, inside Tynemouth Metro station, has been holding live music events for the last three years, usually on a Sunday night.
However, last Sunday ‘s performance could be the last one, as the landlords have been forced to cancel all future events because three neighbours complained to North Tyneside Council about the noise.
Pub landlord Mick Bowman said: “We’ve been told by Environmental Health from North Tyneside Council that the noise levels are over the limits. They have received three complaints from neighbours.”
Local residents took to social media to support the venue, saying how much many of them enjoyed the music and that the Metro trains that pass through the station are louder than the music.
Mr Bowman says he hopes to work with the council to reach a compromise: “We have been onto the council since our return [from holiday]. We have not got anything yet apart from a meeting with the council next week.
“We are to provide background noise checks for them to assess if we can do anything in future.”
North Tyneside Council confirmed it had received complaints but said that it couldn’t comment whilst the complaints were being investigated.
