The Rise of Rape Complaints in the NE

Over the past five years, there have been a total of 9549 rape complaints made to Northumbria Police in the North East. In 2025 alone, there were 2137 complaints, a 29% increase from 2021, when there were 1653. During this podcast, we discuss the numbers with a Regional Executive at the Ministry of Justice and see what they’re doing to help keep us safe.
