Sunderland fan group This Is Wearside have organised many memorable displays at the Stadium of Light, but none with a more powerful message than their recent tribute during the fixture against Aston Villa.

Following the announcement that the match would be dedicated to the Cancer Has No Colours campaign, the group revealed that — for the first time — one of their displays would be sponsored. Commercial partner SportsVision covered all costs, ensuring that every pound raised from the game could be donated to the Bradley Lowery Foundation, which supports children with cancer.

Around five minutes before kick-off, the Stadium of Light’s East Stand lifted white cards to form a moving tribute to the late Bradley Lowery, alongside a flag bearing the message “Cancer Has No Colours.”

A spokesperson for the Bradley Lowery Foundation said: “The slogan Cancer Has No Colours has been something we’ve believed in ever since our journey with Bradley. As a family, we received incredible support from fans across the country and around the world. This year, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to use our slogan to show that cancer truly has no colours — and that together we can make an even bigger impact in the fight against it.

“We cannot begin to tell you how special the SAFC display was to us. Seeing our beautiful boy up in the crowd gave us goosebumps. The display lifted our campaign, raised vital funds and awareness, and we’re incredibly grateful to the sponsors for their amazing support.”

A spokesperson for Sunderland fan site Roker Report added: “For me, the life of Bradley Lowery is synonymous with the football club. The meaning behind the display was important because of the charitable cause it supported, and I’m sure his family are proud that there remains such a strong connection between Sunderland and that special little boy.”
