The University of Sunderland’s Cardiology Society is hosting their first Annual Cardiology Conference this Saturday.

With a wide range of expert speakers, including cardiothoracic surgeon and transplantologist Mr Asif Shah, paediatric consultant Dr Satyam Veeratterapillay and four other medical professionals from the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
Open to all UK medical students, free of charge, the expert talks aim to broaden the knowledge of current students, giving an insight on working in cardiology.
Additionally, the attendees will also hear about AI use and the future of cardiology from Dr Alykhan Bandali.
Organisers allocated time for networking, promoting strong connections within the current and future medical community of Tyne and Wear.
Students will also get a chance to present their academic research posters in the conference competition. The winners will be announced and awarded on Saturday afternoon.
The University’s Cardiology Society’s Vice President, Benji Bleazard said: “We’re really excited to be hosting it.”
