The Carabao Cup is set to be presented to fans for the first time at the women’s Tyne and Wear derby on Sunday.
Newcastle United women host Sunderland women at St James’ Park on Sunday, in a match which has currently sold more than 28,000 tickets.
This event breaks the league record of 15,387, set earlier in the season also by the Tyne and Wear derby, and the club’s own record of 28,565, set when the Magpies beat Barnsley in the Women’s FA Cup.
The match will also be the first time the Carabao Cup, won by Newcastle United on Sunday, will be presented to fans.

The trophy will be presented by Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales and club legend Bob Moncur, who was the last captain to lift a trophy for the Magpies when they won the Fairs Cup in 1969.
Newcastle United fan Sam Foster said: “It’ll be a class atmosphere on Sunday, especially with the cup presentation.
“It’s a good incentive to help fill up St James’ and support the lasses in the derby, as well as giving fans who wouldn’t normally get to go to games the chance to see the cup and the stadium.”
Newcastle won the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 victory over Premier League leaders Liverpool last Sunday.
Eddie Howe’s team dominated the Liverpool team, with goals from North East homeboy Dan Burn and star striker Aleksander Isak confirming the win, despite a late scare from Federico Chiesa.
In response to Howe’s outstanding performance as manager, Newcastle City Council has nominated him for Freedom of the City.
Cllr Karen Kilgour said: “What Eddie has achieved during his time at Newcastle United is nothing short of extraordinary and I’m delighted to nominate him for Freedom of the City.
“Newcastle United is part of the fabric of our city with the fortunes of the club playing a huge part in the lives of supporters in Newcastle and across the world, myself included.
“Generations of supporters have never seen their beloved club lift a domestic trophy, and under his leadership we all now have treasured memories of a truly unforgettable day.”
The celebrations in Newcastle and London continued long after the match had finished, and the club has arranged another presentation of the trophy on Saturday, March 29, although plans have not been confirmed yet.
