The Big Student Shop Returns to Sunderland’s Bridges Shopping Centre

Sunderland’s annual Big Student Shop is returning to The Bridges Shopping Centre, offering students an afternoon of exclusive discounts, freebies, entertainment and prizes.
From 3.00 to 6.00pm on September 23, 2026, students will have access to exclusive discounts at participating stores within the bridges. With some discounts reaching up to 25% off, shoppers will surely be able to find a bargain.
Participating retailers include Boots, JD Sports, HMV, and many more.
Discussing the event, centre director Karen Eve, said: “It’s always brilliant to welcome new and returning students to the centre. We’ve been working with our retailers to line up incredible offers, prizes, and samples across food, fashion, music and beauty – there’s something for everyone at the Bridges.”
The shopping centre will provide entertainment and free gifts as part of the event, such as a live DJ, free popcorn, and free goodie bags for the first 200 students.
There are also opportunities to win prizes at several different food chains, including a 24″ pizza at Slice, free pretzels Auntie Annie’s, and gift vouchers for sausage rolls at Greggs.
