Celebrating its 10th Annual Anniversary, Sunderland Short Film Festival returns for another incredible and engaging year. Not only is the festival a wonderful way for a vast community of filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from the area to celebrate the medium that they adore, but it is also a brilliant showcasing of Sunderland talent, as well as the power of short films and the emotions that can be evoked in a small space of time.

The festival displays an array of different shorts with an eclectic range of genres from filmmakers from all over the Sunderland.

BAFTA nominee Jack Robertson, star and writer of highly acclaimed comedy-drama short Where It Ends (2023) – previously shown on BBC – has turned up to promote and watch his entry to the event.

“Every time the festival comes around, it feels like something I have to get involved in” Jack describes, “it’s a really fantastic festival.”. The BAFTA nominee also emphasises the level of opportunity Sunderland Short Film Festival provides, explaining that there is “so much for upcoming creatives in the North East” to participate in.

Sunderland Short Film Festival 2025 runs from 12-18 May. Get tickets here: https://sunderlandshorts.co.uk/ssff2025/
