Hebburn Town’s historic home record comes to a shock end

Hebburn Town’s historic home unbeaten run came to an abrupt end after a shock defeat to lower league Guiseley AFC.
The run stretched back to the first game of last season where they were beaten by Hednesford Town 2-1, on the 8th August, over 400 days. Since then, Daniel Moore’s side has been promoted from the Northern Premier League Premier Division as league winners with 17 wins in 22 games at the Trust Mark Group Stadium. And started the National League North with four wins out of five at home but it was broken by lower league Guiseley in the Second Qualification round of the FA Cup.

“It was incredible and something that wasn’t expected.” Mark Carruthers, The North East non-league correspondent for the Non-League Paper, said. “The home record has been pivotal in their success last season and now this season. In fact when I talked to Bobby (Daniel Moore) he joked about going unbeaten this season.”
He then went on to say that to stay up this season they need to sustain their home record.
“There are still big tests going forward but if they stay in-form at home they have a great chance of staying up.”
When asked about the Hornet’s chances of staying up he stated.
“We are still early in the season, but with the start they have had so far, they have definitely made a platform to build upon, it is still too early to say for definite yet though.”
“My favourite moment from this run was probably the opening game this season against Southport. Beating someone so established in the league was a real telling point of where they are and to win so comfortably was great.”
Hebburn Town’s media assistant Jacob Carr said. “ It’s a shame to be knocked out of the cup so early on. But there are definitely lessons to take from the game and we can still retain our unbeaten home record in the league.”
The Hornet’s unbeaten run ending has seen them lose the throne for the longest current unbeaten home record in England with Birmingham City now holding the title with 28 games unbeaten at St Andrews.
