Sam Fender has taken to social media to tease the release of a third studio album. Fans of the North Shields born indie musician have been keeping an eagle eye on his social media accounts lately as he has posted several cryptic hints about his return to the studio.
A link appeared on Fender’s Instagram story which allowed fans to sign up for alerts about the singer’s upcoming shows, music, and more. This post also featured a screenshot of a text message containing a YouTube link to Fender’s recent live performance at Boardmasters.
In this clip Fender introduces the crowd to a new song from his upcoming album: “We’ve got a new album coming, we’ve been working on it for ages and we’re really really happy to say that we’re getting to the end of it now. We can’t wait for you to hear it. This is a song from the album, it’s one of the new songs, it’s called people watching.”
Fans of the North East born star will be familiar with the phrase People Watching as Fender has had a running joke going on across his social media accounts where he would provide his comedic commentary on videos of people going about their day-to-day lives.
Simultaneously, Fender posted on TikTok to mark the three-year anniversary of his sophomore album Seventeen Going Under. Fender captioned the video: “Three years since our second album, Seventeen Going Under, almost time for a new one?”
These posts come three days after Fender posted a picture of himself in a recording studio alongside the caption “mastered x”, hinting that new music might not be far away. Fender also teased a recording snippet of a new song on his story.
Fender, who is best known for hits such as Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles hasn’t released any new music bar a collaborative single Homesick with Noah Kahan earlier this year. Fans of the singer will be hoping their wait for new music won’t last too much longer.
