Blyth Spartans Takeover: Fan reaction

Written by on 13th May 2024

Recently, Blyth Spartans owner Tony Platten announced the sale of the club to businessman Irfan Liaquat.

On the last home game of the season against Brackley Town, Blyth Spartans fans gave their opinions on the new ownership. Unfortunately for Blyth they got relegated to the Nothern Premiership, so that is a hurdle for the new ownership.

The club will spend its 125th birthday under the owners and has shown ambition by hiring Nolberto Solano as the new head coach.

There is excitement around Croft Park surrounding the new ownership. The new owner released a statement on the club’s website “Blyth Spartans is the most famous non-league Club in the world. We are surrounded by a fantastic community. We will spend money, but we won’t spend it like it’s going out of fashion. We know what we need to do, and we will get to work instantly. There are exciting times ahead and you will see exactly what we need to do.”
