Eurovision 2022: LUM!X feat. Pia Maria – Halo Review

The selection of safe entries in this year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest have been blown away by Austrian DJ LUM!X and vocalist Pia Maria’s track.
Halo is quite simply an EDM banger. It’s obvious where this track is going to go from the opening bars. The build to the chorus is packed to the brim with anticipation before the explosion of energy, fire and bass. It’s a whopping and uplifting experience.
Pia Maria does, however, sound like she’s reaching for the right key in the chorus. Whether that makes the track difficult to perform live remains to be seen but this doesn’t hinder the enjoyment of Halo as a piece of audio.
Halo is 20 seconds short of the Eurovision time cap so it would’ve been nice to hear a post-chorus musical breakdown squeezed in. That said, Halo is uncompromising in its production.
