Sunderland A.F.C will hope to extend their six-match winning streak with a trip away to Fratton Park this Saturday.
A 5-0 thrashing of Cheltenham Town sees Sunderland A.F.C. in comfortable form and manager Lee Johnson will hope to keep that intact as he comes up against Portsmouth F.C.
A rocky run of form against the southern side may prove troubling, with only four wins for The Black Cats in their past nine encounters.
Through those nine games, Sunderland dragged out a 2-0 victory in their previous match against Portsmouth. A 3-1 loss to the side last season may give Lee Johnson’s team an extra push to prove themselves as potential league winners.
Injury troubles plaguing Portsmouth may give Sunderland an extra edge in their upcoming fixture. Midfielder Miguel Azeez is ruled out for the Blues, who made his first appearance in a 2-1 loss against Bolton.
A rocky start under manager Danny Crowley sees the team at 13th in the league and without a win since August in their 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury.
The Black Cats find themselves on a run of good form and will be hoping to keep their three-point lead at the top of the League One table. Should Wigan lose to Gillingham this Saturday, Johnson’s side will find themselves with a comfortable six-point lead.
