A car crashed into the M&S store at Silverlink Retail Park, Wallsend.
Two pedestrians are being treated in hospital for serious injuries after a car crashed into the glass front of an M&S store.
Emergency services were called at around 2:25pm yesterday to reports of a people carrier having crashed through bollards into the front doors of Marks & Spencers at Silverlink Retail Park, in Wallsend.
Two pedestrians, a man and a woman both in their 60s, were treated at the scene for serious injuries before being taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle.
The incident saw a large emergency services response, with the Great North Air Ambulance attending to treat the casualties, and the shop remained closed yesterday. The Fire Service had to remove the car from the wreckage and a crash investigation van arrived after the three fire engines in attendance left.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, was uninjured and stayed at the scene to help police with their inquiries.
