Get ready to get Snowed In! Sunderland Uni’s festive themed charity gig is back

Written by on 8th December 2025

Snowed In Sunlun is back, and this time it’s bigger than ever.

Snowed In is a festive-themed charity gig, run by Sunderland University’s Northern Academy of Music Education (NAME) students. This year, they are expanding the initiative and putting on two shows, one at Pop Recs, Sunderland, on December 10th and the other at Vixen Barne, Hartlepool, on December 13th.

Last year, Snowed In Sunlun made its debut at Pop Recs to raise over £1000 for children’s charity, Love, Amelia. The line-up consisted of Camel Island, Pretty Velvet, and Celadore, as well as being the host of well-known metal band Divine Image’s last gig.

The NAME students said, “Snowed in is a night of music that gives back to the community! We bring together music lovers from different genres to enjoy local bands and artists while helping those in need at Christmas time.”

This year, the Sunderland lineup consists of Yersin, Social Youth Cult, spacecadetbloom, and Wool for a night of noisy grunge and metal, supporting Sunderland Soup Kitchen. The Hartlepool event is built up from Claudia, spacecadetbloom, Beatnik, and Primaveras, supporting Hartlepool Community Grocery.

Spacecadetbloom, an up-and-coming noisy shoegaze band, playing both events, said: “We are thrilled to be playing both ‘Snowed In Sunlun’ events. Not only is it supporting the local music scene, but the earnings are being donated to two amazing charities; we can’t wait to be a part of it!”

Tickets for the Sunderland event are available here.

Tickets for the Hartlepool event are available here.
