Stranger Things Five: Here’s everything you need to know

Written by on 27th November 2025

Fans of Stranger Things haven’t visited Hawkins, Indiana in more than three years.

As the setting of one of Netflix’s top hits, the make-believe American town is back on screens with its much-anticipated final chapter.

Here are some of the burning questions you might have about the new season.

How did the last season end?

Season four concluded with many of the folks from Hawkins leaving the town, seemingly going down a slippery slope to being removed from existence.

The gang essentially split up to take down Vecna, a creature from the Upside Down that terrorizes trauma-driven characters.

Vecna is ‘taken down’ by Eleven and stopped from destroying Hawkins. But he is still alive and roaming somewhere in the Upside Down.

Why is Stranger Things such a big hit?

Originally coming out in 2016, Stranger Things hit it off with fans worldwide becoming one of Netflix’s biggest streaming giants of the 2010s.

The cast, mostly young, grew alongside the fanbase with the first four seasons accumulating over 400 million viewing hours in the first half of 2025 per IMDb.

According to Forbes, the show in 2022 was the most streamed in the world, with over 52 million minutes watched.

It also propelled cast members into stardom, with names like David Harbour being involved in Marvel hits, and Sadie Kink making her West End debut in a production of Romeo & Juliet.

What is the reaction to the opening of season five?

Critics have hailed the first volume of this season, which debuted on the 26th November, as a masterpiece and are eager for more.

The next volume follows up on Boxing Day followed by the finale on New Year’s Day. With the entire story being told by 2026! Who will be left alive?
