Ten Small Businesses Take Over Sunderland’s Vintage Market Scene

Written by on 6th October 2026

Pop Recs; part coffee shop, part music venue in Sunderland, is being taken over by Rock N Roll Retro Vintage on Sunday 11 October for a vintage market showcasing ten small businesses.

Pop Recs, located on High Street West in Sunderland, next door to Sonny’s cafe which is perfect for a coffee and a treat for a much needed rest after rummaging through rails after the market. Pop Recs is perfect for this event and students new to the city should know about it. Bands such as Franz Ferdinand and Ash have played there in the past, keep a look out for more gigs to come.

Spark spoke to Sunderland University graduate and Rock and Roll Vintage’s event manager, Neale McGeever, who told us what’s in store for us.

“Students can expect ten local small businesses selling all kinds of contemporary vintage clothing from Y2K and 90s styles to streetwear, outer wear, band tees, sports wear, alternative styles and lots more!”

If you are a student, remember to show your student ID upon entry to receive a goodie bag and a chance to win vouchers.

If you couldn’t get enough of this market in Sunderland and still have space in your wardrobe to fill, Rock N Roll Retro Vintage is hosting another market in Teeside on Friday 16 October. Keep up with their socials to find out more information about this event @rocknrollretrovintage

Come along to sort your autumn wardrobe while saving the planet, and your student loan!
