Disney’s Olivier Award-winning stage musical Beauty and the Beast is heading to Sunderland Empire in 2022 for a five-week run from Thursday 20 January until Saturday 19 February 2022.

Based on the 1991 film, the show has been re-imagined and re-designed in a completely new production featuring spectacular new designs and state-of-the-art technology fused with the classic story brought to life on stage like never before, with all the charm and elegance audiences expect from Belle and her Beast.

Starring a stellar West End and Broadway cast, Courtney Stapleton (Dear Evan Hansen, Six the Musical) and Emmanuel Kojo (Girl from the North Country, The Scottsboro Boys) will play the iconic lead roles. Also featuring will be West End Stars Gavin Lee (Lumiere), Martin Ball (Maurice), Tom Senior (Gaston) and X-Factor 2013 Winner Sam Bailey, who will take on the role of Mrs. Potts.

Olivier Award nominee Matt West directs and choreographs this new production, leading a team that includes composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice and costume designer Ann Hould-Ward.

The team collectively received five Tony® nominations and a win for Hould-Ward’s costume design, when Disney first debuted Beauty and the Beast on Broadway 26 years ago.

Beauty and the Beast won the 1998 Olivier Award for Best Musical.

Tickets go on sale October 12 2021 and can be purchased at the ATG Tickets website.
