The time of the year has arrived where we think football. The EFL started last week with a convincing second half win for Sunderland against Charlton Athletic. Optimism is present across Wearside with season ticket sales up and more supporters regaining faith in the football team again.
Jack Ross, the main man in the helm, he is new to Wearside and wants to make a instant impression to supporters across the city after a few years of negative feelings across the Stadium of Light. Sunderland go into a League 1 campaign with a young, fresh and energetic squad designed to be the future of the football club.
Sunderland are wanting to set the season off strong as they could potentially go into a difficult October and November. This week seen transfer deadline day, Thursday was a busy period for Sunderland in improving the squad for the full campaign. Wearside welcomed previous Wigan Athletic midfielder Max Power with manager Jack Ross saying ‘
We wanted another midfielder in the squad and we wanted one who was a little bit different to what we already have.
“Max gives us a little bit more of a presence physically – box to box – and gives us more balance within the squad.
“He’s got very recent experience when it comes to winning and being successful in this league and knows what it takes to get out of it.”
