Irish boy band Boyzone have announced their final farewell tour across the UK & Ireland including a stop in the North East.
The band who’s hit singles include “Love Me For a Reason”, “Picture of You” and “No Matter What” rose to fame in the mid to late nineties.
They’ve had six UK number 1 singles and five UK number 1 albums in their 25 years together, and will now release their final album ‘Thank You & Goodnight’ on November 16th.
As part of their 25th anniversary the band will hit the road on a farewell UK and Ireland arena tour which reaches the Arena in Newcastle on Wednesday 30th January 2019.
“When we started out as five young Dublin Northsiders, eager to face the world, we never imagined that we’d still have an army of fans some twenty-five years later… If you’d seen our famous first TV appearance on The Late Late Show, you’d probably be surprised too! Twenty-five years is a long time. We’re certainly not boys anymore, and we all feel that we should now call time on our lives together as Boyzone and go out on a real high.” – Boyzone (Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane)
The band have had some tough times too band member Stephen Gately died from a heart defect in 2009.
“The loss of Stephen left scars that we will carry as a band forever. We were immensely touched by all the tributes and messages of support that helped us through the dark days. Stephen was our brother and will always be at the very the heart of Boyzone. We’re especially excited to share a very special tribute to Stephen in the shape of a new song, ‘I Can Dream.’ We came across a demo that he originally recorded for his solo album in 2002 and we’ve had the opportunity to re-work the song.” – Boyzone (Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane)
Tickets for the band’s final farewell go on sale next Friday (22nd June) at 9.00am and are available online, from the booking hotline number or in person from the Metro Radio Arena Box Office.
