Sunderland 3K, 10K and Half Marathon wait for no-one!

Written by on 24th April 2018

With three weeks to go, there’s still time to join the #runwiththetide event and take part in the Run Sunderland Festival on Sunday 13 May

The Siglion Sunderland City Half Marathon and Siglion Sunderland City 10k are the main features on the day, complemented by the Active Sunderland BIG 3k Run.

Everyone across the city and region is encouraged to pull on their running shoes and join in one of the races, which will start and finish in Keel Square in the city centre.

The 3K is for people of all ages and abilities and sets off just before the Siglion Sunderland City 10K and Half Marathon events, starting at Keel Square at 9am.

The Run Sunderland Festival 2018 is being organised by Events of the North, in partnership with Sunderland City Council and Active Sunderland.

Featuring the Active Sunderland Big Fun Run (3k) Siglion Sunderland City Half Marathon and the 10K, it will take place on Sunday 13 May.

The races will start and finish in Keel Square, a site that is rapidly becoming a popular symbol of Sunderland’s renewal and regeneration.

Race founder Steve Cram said: “Everything is shaping up well for a great day on 13 May. Numbers are looking very good for both the Siglion Sunderland City Half Marathon and 10K, but there’s still time to sign up and #runwiththetide alongside thousands of others from around the region.”

“Sunderland City Council and partners have lined up some fantastic events in the city this summer and we’re looking forward to firing the starting gun for all of that in a few weeks.”

The Active Sunderland BIG 3K will use the same start and finish line, and on part of the same city centre closed road course as the Siglion Sunderland City 10k and Half Marathon.

The BIG 3k is part of the 2018 Active Sunderland BIG Events programme which begins with the new BIG 3-in-1 on Sunday 23 April that takes in a fun run, bike ride a walk at Herrington Country Park.
