5 things to do in the North East for Valentines Day

Written by on 14th February 2018

Another year, another Valentine’s Day. If you celebrate it, you might be wondering what activities you and your boo can do together this year.

Well, here’s 5 of the top activities to do in the North East to celebrate your love this year…

Film at Tyneside Cinema

A night snuggling with your significant other sounds perfect, right? Well, going to see a film is the best way to get cosy and chill with each other.

Tyneside Cinema offers a variety of films, and rom-coms are a must on V-Day!

An even cuter addition to your evening would be to book the sofa seats in the screen your movie is in: get snuggly and stuff your faces with popcorn.

Walk along the beach

It is entirely possible Seaburn beach will still be freezing at this time of year – but what’s more romantic than a stroll along the seafront as the sun is setting?

If you want to make the night even more romantic, why not take a picnic along with a bottle of bubbly?

Or if you’re not one for preparing dishes – there’s plenty of restaurants to choose from along the seafront including Asian restaurant Fat Buddha.

See a musical

If you’re up for a bit of singing and dancing – seeing a musical at Sunderland Empire on the day could be right up your street.

Tomorrow ‘Thriller Live’ starts at the Empire which will hopefully be very entertaining and keep you both singing along throughout the show!

If you fancy something else, you can always book to go to another show as a gift.

Visit cute animals

For all you animal lovers out there – here’s an idea that will really bring an abundance of cuteness to the day.

Visiting an animal shelter can help bring you and your beau closer and you might even get lucky and end up adopting a sweet, loving pet of your own!

You’ll be sharing the love with each other and bringing so much joy to animals that have had difficult lives before being brought to a rescue shelter. Visit Bryson’s Animal Shelter in Newcastle or ‘Feline Friends’ in Sunderland.

Romantic meal

There’s plenty of choices of restaurants to go to for meals with your S.O on Valentine’s day in the North East.

It’s entirely possible you can even share a meal with your love – Lady and the Tramp always rings a bell with this one. Of course, it’s more likely you’ll want to eat your own meals, but in a romantic atmosphere.

Give Luciano’s in Sunderland city centre a try for lovely, inexpensive Italian cuisine. If you’d prefer a more laid back meal, head to Fat Hippo in Newcastle for a delicious, juicy burger.

Both restaurants offer vegetarian options and special lunch-time menus.
