Sunderland AFC Ladies prepare for Cup Tie

Sunderland Ladies are preparing to enter the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend.

The Wearsiders are hopeful of a win at their home ground, Mariners Park, this Sunday as they face Brighouse Town Ladies FC.

The opposition currently sit in the FA Woman’s Premier League (the 4th tier of the women’s league) whilst Sunderland AFC Ladies sit in the top tier of English Woman’s football – the FA Woman’s Super league.

Sunderland AFC Ladies midfielder, Zaneta Wyne spoke about the team’s expectations heading into the game.

“We want to have a clean sheet and a solid technical game and that’s where our focus is at.”

But leagues won’t matter this Sunday as both teams battle it out in the FA Cup fourth round with both looking to progress to the fifth round.

Rachel Pitman, Sunderland AFC Ladies Right Back spoke about the progressing in the cup.

“We want to go far in the FA Cup; it’s an important competition and a fun competition to be in.”

This will be the first test for Sunderland AFC Ladies in FA Cup action this Sunday as they look for a cup run.

Sunderland AFC Ladies take on Brighouse Town Ladies FC on Sunday at 2pm.
