Sunderland Ladies prepare for Manchester City Clash

Written by on 26th January 2018

Sunderland Ladies are preparing for top flight action this Sunday as they look to host league leaders Manchester City.

The Wearsiders are hopeful of maintaining their winning streak at their home ground Marriners Park, but are facing some tough competition when the Citizens make their visit this Sunday.

The league leaders make the trip north hoping to continue their winning streak at the top with 18 points after winning all six games this season.

Despite the tough task ahead, Sunderland AFC Ladies head coach Melanie Copeland is looking forward to the game.

“This one is extra special, Man City are on an unbelievable run of consecutive victories.”

“But haven’t done too bad ourselves, winning the last three games at home where we are unbeaten so it should be an interesting game and we are looking to get something from it.”

This will be first time the sides have met this season with another tie later this season at the Academy Stadium.

Here’s the full interview with Melanie Copeland below.

Sunderland AFC Ladies take on Manchester City Woman on Sunday 28 January at Marriners Park, South Shields. Kick-Off 2pm.
