Customs House raise over a thousand for Chloe & Liam Trust

More than £1,600 has been raised to help support young people in South Tyneside during one of The Customs House’s festive shows.

Santa’s Naughty Elf: A Christmas Carol ran throughout December 2017, with a record number of seats sold and more than 4,550 tickets have already been snapped up for 2018’s show, Santa’s Naughty Elf’s Celebration of Calamity.

It will mark 10 years of Santa’s Naughty Elf, a panto aimed at children under the age of seven and their families.

The bumper audiences enjoying the show this year also helped to raise £1,612 for the Chloe & Liam Together Forever Trust by throwing their spare change into bucket collections at the end of each performance.

The Chloe & Liam Together Forever Trust was set up in memory of 17 year old Chloe Rutherford, and Liam Curry, aged 19, both from South Shields.

The couple were among 22 people killed in a terrorist attack following an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in May last year.

The trust aims to provide funding to help young people in South Tyneside achieve their potential through their love of performance or sport, as Liam was a keen cricketer.

Chloe, a talented performer, had appeared on stage at The Customs House on numerous occasions and several fundraising events for the Trust have been held at the venue, in Mill Dam, South Shields.

Wayne said: “Making the choice to support the Chloe & Liam Together Forever Trust was the right and only one. The generosity of our audiences blew us away and my team and I are so thankful to them for the amount raised.”

Chloe’s mum Lisa Rutherford said: “The amount raised is absolutely amazing and I would like to say thank you very much, on behalf of both families.

“It is going to make a massive impact on the monies raised towards the Trust and hopefully we can continue to support others and help them fulfil their dreams.”

Tickets for Santa’s Naughty Elf’s Celebration of Calamity, which runs from December 1 to December 24, 2018, are on sale now, priced from £10, more details are available here.
