Sunderland Welcomes the City Of Culture Judges
Written by Scott McGerty on 2nd November 2017
The judging panel are coming to Sunderland today (Thursday 2nd November) to help make their decision about whether Sunderland should be UK City of Culture 2021.
The City of Culture team are asking everyone to tweet @DCMS to tell them why we should win. In your tweet make sure you add #WelcomeToSunderland, along with a photo of your choice.
#WelcometoSunderland is all about capturing that feel-good factor in our city at the moment and sharing the things that we love about Sunderland.
Friendship is a key theme for this bid, and #WelcometoSunderland is an opportunity to extend the hand of friendship digitally and ensure the judges leave with a fantastic impression of Sunderland.
The judges will only be in the city from 9am – 2pm. During this time we’ll be showing them our amazing coastline, our cultural assets such as National Glass Centre, the Empire, The Fire Station, Sunderland Musuem and Winter Gardens and Arts Centre Washington, and we’ll also be taking them to Hendon, Washington and the coalfield villages.
Winning the title would be huge for the city in terms of inward investment, job creation and profile so let’s show the judges the city as a whole is right behind the bid and wants to be City of Culture.
