ArtyParti – SunFest 2017 at the Arts Centre Washington

4 May 2017 Culture What's On

7 performances across the month of May; from Shakespearean classics and established theatrical pieces, all the way through to newly devised material.  All taking place at the Arts Centre Washington.

SunFest 2017 is the final project of the University of Sunderland’s BA Drama students; a time to celebrate the skills & talent they’ve accumulated across their degree, & share it with the wider Sunderland.

Joining us on this week’s ArtyParti are Alice Bickerdike, Reece Sohdi & Steve Walker; the three final year Drama students share experiences from their degree, advice for emerging actors, & what you can expect from this year’s SunFest performances at the Arts Centre Washington.

“We’ve had emotional days, and intense days.  There’s no room for ‘I wouldn’t say that’, or ‘I wouldn’t do that’.  A drama degree is naturally going to be stressful.” – Alice Bickerdike.

“An actor needs to push themselves.  And it develops over time, and you’re always finding new things about your character.” – Reece Sohdi

“We’ve had the opportunity to attend workshops with lovely and insightful people who’ve been part of the theatre industry.  You get to find out who’s working in the North East, who the big players are up here.” – Steve Walker
