COMPETITION: Win The Magnificent Seven goodies with Spark Film Show!

Written by on 22nd September 2016

To celebrate the release of The Magnificent Seven, we’re giving away some cool prizes to get you excited for its release on Friday. We’ve got a t-shirt, a pack of playing cards, a shot glass and hip flask to give away to two lucky listeners and it’s very simple to be in with a chance to win.

We’re pretty excited for this film here at The Film Show, it’s a remake of a film from 1960 directed by John Sturges from 1960, which brought together action stars Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen among others to make up the notorious seven gunslingers. That film was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, regarded by many as one of the greatest films of all time.

The new version has a similarly impressive cast to its predecessor. Director Antoine Fuqua, who also directed the Academy Award winning Training Day, has drafted in up-and-coming megastar Chris Pratt, who you wouldn’t have associated with this kind of role in the past, but since his inclusion in the Marvel universe with Guardians of the Galaxy, he has been catapulted into a new kind of stardom. Fuqua regular Denzel Washington is also involved, as is one of my favourite actors Ethan Hawke, who you may recognise from his work with Richard Linklater, particularly his incredible performance in his 12-year epic, Boyhood. The Seven are completed by Emmy nominee Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier.

If you want to win our awesome prizes, it’s very simple to get your name in the hat. There’s three ways to enter, you’re allowed to enter once via each method.

You must be 18 or over and you must have a UK address we can send the prizes to. You can find full competition rules, terms and conditions here. We’ll be revealing the winner on next Friday’s Film Show, where we’ll also be reviewing the film, along with The Girl with All the Gifts and Deepwater Horizon.

This week’s Film Show was a Freshers Special, so we spoke to Chris Scott at Tyneside Cinema to talk about what’s coming up there and why it’s so damn good. We also had Lauren McLeish from Spark’s Tuesday Drivetime show joining us to talk about the brand new Bridget Jones film, as well as our reviews of The Infiltrator, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Blair Witch. You can hear it on Spark this Friday at 11am or right now in the Mixcloud player above.
