World Cup Bid Boost

The World Cup bid that Sunderland is apart of got a big boost this morning when one of its rival bidders dropped out of the running.

The Trophy could be presented in Wembley in 2018

Japan has decided to focus its attention on bidding for the 2022 World Cup so England’s competition has narrowed further leaving it between themselves. Russia, the USA and joint bidders Spain and Portugal and the Netherlands and Belgium.

The Stadium of Light which is one of the chosen cities for England’s bid, could see the likes of World Class footballers Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi playing on its hallowed turf.

The decesion on who will host both the 2018 and 2022 competions will be made by the FA in December, however Japan droppign form the 2018 running has made many people believe FIFA hope to host the World Cup in Europe.

England’s final bid includes a plan to use 15 stadiums in 12 cities, including our own Stadium of Light. The final ‘books’ promoting the bids has to be submitted on May 14th ahead of FIFA inspecting all the stadiums and coming to a decision.
