Many Wearsiders were left disappointed after the Sunderland Empire pulled the plug on its popular Christmas pantomime Sleeping Beauty recently. But never fear panto lovers, you can still get your fix of festive fun at The Royalty Theatre this December.
Preparations are already under way for this year’s panto, Jack and the Beanstalk which promises to be bigger and better than ever. The production team are planning a spectacle of a show for all, with a script packed full of ‘It’s behind you’ moments and side splitting gags.
The Theatre’s Artistic Director said “The panto at the Royalty is a massive part of our season, its the only production guaranteed to bring youth theatre and senior members together, and give us all a chance to sing and dnace our way through a show.”
She added, “With the news of the Empire scrapping it’s panto in favour of a more traditonal stage musical we have great hope of providing not just the only panto in town but one to remember with music, magic and laughter, showcasing the massive talent Sunderland has to offer.”
The theatre will be hosting open auditions for the pantomime cast in late August, details of which will be posted on the Royalty Theatre’s website below.
