Paid Intern

107 Spark FM is now seeking an individual to spearhead the development of the project in its first year. This is a six month intern role for a self-starting, ideas-driven team player. It’s a real opportunity to make a mark and turn actions into measurable results.

The station’s intern will report to the department’s Head of Radio, and will be a key member of 107 Spark FM’s management team. The University has identified vital objectives for the development of the project in its first twelve months, and the role will embrace responsibility for the following important areas:

• Identification of suitable public sector funding opportunities to underpin the station’s running costs
• Preparation of high quality bid documentation to bring funding applications to fruition
• Sourcing and selling of commercial sales and sponsorship within the station’s licence terms
• Design, creation and production of marketing and publicity material
• Generation of sponsorship-driven programming opportunities
• Operation of commercial scheduling and billing software
• Preparation of the station’s diversity and equality policy
• Implementation of the station’s community radio training initiative

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity in a commercially orientated radio enterprise, with a real opportunity to gain the experience needed to enter the dynamic world of media management. You will need excellent people and negotiating skills, the ability to contribute to a team environment, but above all the drive and hard work needed to mark out a career in one of the UKs fastest growing media. You’ll be working in a state-of-the-art facility which has just benefited from more than a million pounds of new investment. We have five world class radio studios, and we’re planning for a sixth (that’ll be part of your job too!)
