The University of Sunderland is offering people from 6 to 60 the chance to get fit, have some fun and maybe learn a new skills with free dance classes next Saturday and Sunday (March 6 & 7).
The classes have been organised by the university and the national Change 4 Life initiative, which aims to encourage people in Britain to lead healthier lives.
Morc Coulson, Programme Leader in Sports and Exercise Science at the
university, organised the event. He says: “As part of the Campaign
for Life, CitySpace will be hosting try-it dance classes ranging from
Parent and Toddler dance classes to Nifty Fitfty and Salsa sessions.
There will also be an opportunity to have a health and fitness MOT and
get advice on healthy eating and activity.”
Classes available are
Saturday, March 6
• 10am-11am – Pop Steps (6-9 year olds)
• 11am-noon – Pop Steps (9-12 year olds)
• noon-1pm – High School Musical (all ages)
• noon-1pm – Nifty Fifties (50 years plus)
• 2pm-3pm – Nifty Fifties (50 years plus)
• 1pm-3pm – Fame (13-16 year olds)
• 3pm-5pm – Street Dance (13-16 year olds)
• 5pm-6pm – Salsa (any age)
Sunday March 7
• 9am-10am – Dance Tots (Nursery kids and parents)
• 9am-10am – Dance Tots (Nursery kids only)
• noon-2pm – Children’s Dance.
All the classes take place at the university’s new £12m CitySpace sports complex on Chester Road.
