Wearside Mum calls for Organ Donors

Wearside Mum Gillian Andersen, who’s daughter Martha contracted a Virus which caused heart problems and then later required a Heart Transplant is calling for more people to sign up to become Organ Donors.

Gillian said it is vital anyone signing up informs their family as relations have refused to give up the organs.

Gillian said “its the ultimate sacrifice..if your on your death bed and you have the chance to save someone else life, why would you not want to do that”

Craig from NHS Blood and Transplant Team said “There about 10,000 people currently waiting for an organ and their only change of life is with a organ donation”
