January see’s the 2nd unsigned Sunderland showcase of local bands from around the north east.
Unsigned Sunderland has teamed up with greenhouse music and 107 Spark FM to bring you one hell of a line up of some of the best undiscovered talent from this fine region and we think you’ll agree!
This event is still happening but at the Bonded Warehouse on Low Street Sunderland, only the Venue has changed.

6 home-grown bands will take to the stage that has seen many great bands perform on it such as The Arctic monkeys , The Stranglers , Ocean colour scene and Republica to name just a few now its your chance to see some bands that could easily walk in their footsteps given half the chance

SUNDERLAND is a city that is brimming with musical talent.
And it seems the city’s sounds are showing no sign of slowing with another band gearing up to be catapulted into the spotlight.
Since unleashing their single A 1000 Days of Me on music fans at a live performance at TJ Doyles last year, The Generals – David Cuthbertson, Steven Dorward, Paul Wormleighton and Matty Stoker – have been going from strength to strength.

We’re INK.
We first started out as ‘Breaking Thru’ about 3-4 years ago, with a different drummer and a different bassist.
But now, with our new line up and new material, we changed our name and image and are better than ever!
We play most of our gigs in Newcastle at the minute, but we’ll hopefully travel further when we get a bigger fanbase.
We are currently working on new material and each song we write is better than the last! We’ll hopefully get some new recordings up on the myspace soon, so keep checking it!

We just like playing music. Thats basically it
Curio
http://www.myspace.com/curiouk
Curio, a musical brew, a tin of circus meat, dedicated to entertainment and keeping you guessing, putting the audience on the backfoot to get it on the goodfoot. Comprising creatures great and small, members young and old, from the silly to the serious, the definition of the word curio being ‘a rare or unusual object’ lends itself to a description of its members as well as their music. Songwriter, co-vocalist and lead guitarist Milo Holmes lists his interests as The Artist Currently Known as Prince, cold blocks of cheddar cheese, fresh cups of tea, his children and his dog Bruno. Second guitarist and genuine English oaf Jim Cock spoke about himself when prompted but unfortunately no good sense could be made from his native mumble and bombastic pomposity, we believe him better to be seen and not herd. Bass player and co-vox Al credits his musical ambitions to happy atoms and hopes one day to dissolve himself and become one with everything. Gaz Mash became a lead singer after giving up hope of ever being able to play a conventional instrument, he spends his time in a taurine fueled jitter promoting the band and working shifts for the man. In my opinion (Knox, drummer) Curio are versatile and make accessible music, providing equal opportunities for people and art in the 21st century.

The Vaudeville Class
http://www.myspace.com/thevaudevilleclass
From it’s roots in American saloons to the stages in New York City, Vaudeville shows were THE most popular form of entertainment. Actors, dancers, musicians and magicians performed to wide audiences as it’s appeal was that it entertained everyone. * * * It is with this in mind that The Vaudeville Class have set out on their mission to form entertainment with no “label”. The hope of these three like minded individuals is that they can shake off the desperate need to fit in to societies norms and the music industries templates, to create individuality that can be enjoyed by everyone. * * * Paul (Guitars, Vox) has had a keen interest in music from an early age. As a self taught musician, he retains a distinctive style full of his own unique character. As part of The Vaudeville Class, Paul has been able to produce riffs and melodies that are stylishly diverse. * * * Laura (Bass, Vox, Percussion) is a trained music/entertainments journalist, but after having spent years behind the scenes she realised her passion was ‘on-stage’ and creating the music that is still so close to her heart. With the same ideals as Paul it seemed inevitable that the two would end up creating great music together. * * * Karl (Drums) Completes the line-up beautifully. His rythms and beats compliment every strum and every word of The Vaudeville Class’ music perfectly. Having spent time in many other bands Karl has truely refined his craft. * * * The band have set out to join people together in a love of life, fun and most importantly music. All are welcome!! Are you part of the Vaudeville Class? * * *
