Commonwealth Double Gold Medal Winner Chris Cook has launched SwimFit project with Sunderland City Council.
The Swimfit project is funded by the ASA (Amateur Swimming Asociation) and has been developed to encourage swimmers to get the most of their time in the pool. Laminated cards that detail simple to follow exercises and activities are available poolside, for anyone to use who wishes to enhance their workout in the pool. Sunderland is taking part in the Swimfit programme at three of its four pools – Hetton Community Pool, Sunderland Aquatic Centre and Washington Leisure Centre. Each of these pools will display the exercises at all times, as well as provide a member of staff to act as a Swimfit promoter for a one-hour session per week for 12 weeks.
Spark FMs Jack Critchley spoke to Kate from the ASA and Chris Cook.
