Christmas Toy Appeal

Posted on 10 December 2009 by

Be part of a Christmas miracle and help struggling families city-wide. That’s the message of this year’s Echo’s Toys Appeal with everyone counting on it being another record-breaker as the need is greater than ever.

It has now become one of the finest traditions on Wearside, and thanks to the breathtaking generosity of Echo readers, transforms the bleakest of lives, bringing the true spirit of Christmas into the poorest of homes.

With the countdown on in earnest, gifts for all ages are arriving at Echo House daily. Sharing in the fantastic giving are Wearside Women In Need, which shelters mothers and children fleeing violent men and helps women start again with their families as well as Sunderland Social Services, helping young couples, single mothers and young men and women coming out of care.

Thousands contribute to the Echo appeal, helping the desperate and destitute and saving families from turning to loan sharks.

Echo editor Rob Lawson knows what a massive difference this makes to families and has specially thanked all the companies for acting as drop off points as well as Joplings toy department.

This Year Spark FM is getting involved by promoting the Appeal on Air to our listeners as well as Helping out with the collections.
